This 1-day course provides a comprehensive introduction to kiln casting glass. As a student, you will create one glass sculpture featuring relief and reverse-relief imagery.
The process will involve making a clay positive, creating an open-faced mold with a silica/plaster mix, filling the mold with pieces of glass billet, and firing the mold in the kiln until the glass flows. You will also learn the basics of firing the castings in the kiln.
Most people enjoy using these as paperweights, sculptures on a bookshelf, or display items on a table. Display lights can also be purchased online. All materials included. No experience needed. Instructor: Leslie Speicher
