Kilncarving is a simple way to achieve surface relief in kiln formed glass. This session will be devoted to introduce this technique by working several different levels of fiber paper. Proper use of materials, design considerations and safety issues will be covered as well as ways to cold work your pieces for a professional finish.
Students can expect to create a beautiful 8" x 8" plate or multiple smaller dishes. Two sheets of 8" x 8" (one clear and one transparent color) glass, frit, stringers, tools, fiber paper and kiln firings are included. Clear and transparent colored glass are included in the class and other color options are available for sale by the instructor. Beginners are welcome!
