Intro to Fused Glass Kilncarving (1 day)
Intro to Fused Glass Kilncarving (1 day)
Kilncarving is a simple way to achieve surface relief in kiln-formed glass. This session will introduce this technique by working on several different levels of fiber paper. Proper use of materials, design considerations, and safety issues will be covered, as well as ways to cold work your pieces for a professional finish.
Students can expect to create a beautiful 8" x 8" plate or 2-4 smaller dishes (cutting 8” pieces into sections). Two sheets of 8" x 8" (one clear and one transparent color) glass, frit, stringers, tools, fiber paper and kiln firings are included. Clear and transparent color glass, stringer and frit are included in the class and other color options are available for sale by the instructor. Beginners are welcome! 16•
